Huge, huge thanks to
ariadne1 (she ghost writes the most brilliant posts) and
mischievous_t (for her mad chore making list skillz) for helping pull things together (including this post and the list of cumulative, collective chores), whilst I worked my little brains out.
Calling all fangirls... calling all fangirls...
Your house a wreck because a new chapter of your favorite WIP posted and you have to re-read the whole thing?
Twice?
And then you were bitten by a plot bunny, and then the kids/husband/roommates/strangers showed up and destroyed your Zen/writing time/OCD progress toward reviewing every chapter of the complete works of all your favorite writers by tracking mud all over the house/shedding on the ceiling fan/distracting you with shinies/trashing the kitchen/moving a million boxes of who knows what into your space and then disappearing for months/years/decades? So naturally you had to start reading all those fics all over again?
We have the cure: It's time for Official Everyone Wins Competitive Chores Bingo! Everyone wins because your stuff gets done, because you have a cohort of company (your co-competitors, including your friends on the other side of the globe), and because really, doesn't everyone love Bingo?
Here's how it works:
1. Sign up in comments to this post.
2. PJ will provide a list of eligible general chores like changing the sheets, doing the dishes, de-cat-furring the ceiling fan...
Ari: *raises hand*
PJ: No, Ari, taking your bibliography class on a field trip doesn't count. They have to be chores that everyone has.
Ari: *pouts*
3. From this suggested chore list (created by accumulating everyone's chores), you will select 25 chores comprising roughly 5-6 hours of 'normal' chore time (give or take) and write them into your BINGO CARD. But we're looking to dervish and clean like mad, right? So it'll be bunches less time, yes? Your time will be clocked from the time you check-in on this web form from the time you say "Here goes!" to the time you check-in saying "Done is good!"
By signing up and chipping in your $5 fun fee, you're paying forthe illusion of fun while doing your chores!
The fun fee pool will go toward... well, toward a spiffy shiny gift certificate/certificates for the winner(s) - (I'll post a poll about how this will work, exactly, mid-weekend.)
You can sign up for Bingo at any time throughout the weekend (so all time zones can participate); once you sign up, there's no backing out, because there will be pictures.
1. Please take a picture of your worst "before" area
2. Please take as many pictures as you want of your best "after" area
Winners will get to post their "best" pics; those bringing up the caboose of this particular freight train run amok will have to post their "worst" pics. (Obviously you can edit your pics. We're not in this to completely embarrass anyone. La la, just sayin'.)
ETA: Details on any and all money stuffs to follow in later post.
